Wonder if that additive called acetone gives better fuel economy for your car? Find out!Sorry about the obvious spelling error at the beginning. Overall, even with the alleged 2.45% increase in fuel economy, it doesn't make financial sense to use acetone since 1 quart costs about $10 here.

It was a 1997 Geo Metro with a 1.0L 3 cylinder engine with a 5 speed manual (the most fuel efficient car in Canada for '97). At 50-mph, the car has to push less wind, so that's why it got mid-50s in fuel economy.

The proper mix is 3 oz acetone + 3 oz xylene + 3 oz diesel in 10 gal gas. My '84 2.4L Toyota pickup increased mpg by 25%

I'm using acetone to clean sensitive electronic circuit boards for years. Whoever told You that acetone is corrosive is not serious at all. If You are really worried about corrosives in the fuel add about 0.5% two-stroke oil. You could add 1% methanol if You suspect water in the fuel tank, but add no more as methanol is powerful fuel and is better suited for low compression ratio engines. 0.2 to 0.3% of acetone will not eat away rubber parts of fuel supply system.

do you realize just how much you are depended on oil? or you just thing the only use for oil is gasoline?

You neglecting to take the weight of the gas into effect.

Any Geo Metro (with a 3 cylinder) will get well over 50 mpg if the speed is limited to 50-mph.

How did you get 57 mpg anyway?

Solution? Ride a bike... like I've been doing for the past 6 months! :)
