Creed had some pretty dang good songs and Nickelback's first album was pretty good but their newer stuff is a joke. Mainstream rock these days definitely sucks as a whole. You have to find independent bands or just lesser known bands to find the good stuff.

There's still great stuff out there. You have to dig a little deeper again to find it. The 90's were fun because the music industry was in turmoil. They took more chances because they thought "what the hell, this might sell and if it doesn't we can drop them." Luckily we're in the information age and finding new music has never been easier. I'm really digging Deerhoof and Of Montreal at the moment (the guitar player in my band introduced me to their music)
