I actually like this idea, it helps both youtube and me make money. However, I would like to dictate how,when and where these ads are overlaid. Like with the comment below,If I had subtitles then I would either put the overlay to a side bar or on the top %20 percent. Also instead of taking up an entire lower %20 it would also be a good idea to put a little ad bug in one corner of the vid when there is alot going on in the vid.

I would be pissed of if i uploaded a video with subtitles, or some other vital bit of action that gets covered up by an advert every time sombody watches it! whats wrong with the banner ad to the right of the playing video? I never click on adverts even if it looks interesting because you dont know where the link will take you. If I want to buy somthing i will search google, Not youtube

I don't like them that way. I like ads better when you can choose to avoid them. It's pretty much like a pop-up. But it's better then a pre-roll.

But that's the problem. We've all gotten used to the ads. I feel like the reason youtube got so popular in the first place was because it was different and innovative. It was controlled by the users rather than some higher power. when you put in ads you are giving them contol back to the advertisers.

The first time it happened, I was really annoyed. But, the more I've seen it and gotten used to it, the ads don't bother me as much.I think the little yellow marker that lets you know the ad is coming is a big help because I can easily see what videos are going to have ads and I'm ready to click it away.
