Thanks to Rep. Markey for defending this long running and very effective program. If this program somehow benefited billionaires the Bush Administration would triple its budget. But since its clientele is low income families it gets zeroed out. Another example of that "compassionate conservatism". And by the way, the Bushies also want to cut the LIHEAP program which helps low income families cope with home heating bills. These guys are all heart!

Dear Rep Markey:Thank you so much for questioning President Bush's decision to eliminate funding to DOE Weatherization Program. I have been a Weatherization Director for 30 years and the number of low income families this program helps is amazing. When these people are cold and living without insulation and furnaces that work imporperly we help them. What are these low income people to do without this type of program. Mr Bodman's answers to your questions were appalling.
