In 1969, the US Senate had a hearing on funding the proposed Corporation for Public Broadcasting, but President Nixon wanted it cut in half for the Vietnam War. Sometimes nice guys do win some.

Wow! I wish my kids would have watched him - a whole generation went by. I'm 45 and remember enjoying him, but my kids were into Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers - the things he was worried about. Kind of sad in a way. Now we have Barney - what a sad replacement.

Rogers' words, priced at $2x10^7 in 1969, could be far more valuable in our society today. His perspective is truly unique and sorely needed in a world where violence is considered the first resort.

He was also a vegetarian - his kindness was genuine and even extended to animals. God bless you, Mister Rogers.

I never watched him, thought he was corny, but you know what, he was a really good and decent person. It's too bad that more people aren't like him.
