What the heck do archaeologists really do? Though you may not find many fedoras, whips, and (for the most part) mummies, archaeology is still a romantic, exciting, and interesting endeavor.

Faith - This is such a great overview of what archaeologist do. I teach elementary school and would love to share this with my students. However, YouTube is a blocked site in our district. I see that you offered someone below a DVD copy. Would you be willing to provide one to me? Thanks so much!

I am what they call a amatuer archaeologist, I went on 3 digs volunteering before I was invited for free to dig. I am 21 years old and went on my first dig at age 20 in Antigua with zero University credits, and absolutly know understanding of field work. I am planning on heading to university to get my masters to get contract work. It takes about 4-5 years to get a masters and about 7-10 years to write a PHD.

Search google for volunteer Archaeology, you can see what digs are goiing on in your area. It's not cheap tho. I suggest just concentrating on your highschool grades to get into University. And then just go from there, also keep a good tie with archaeological digs around the world.

wheres your problem???there are archeologysts in romaniaotherwise we wouldnt know about histria,tomis,rosia montana,sarmizegetusa....and there is still much to find!!i think that there are treasures hidden under romanian earth equal to the bulgarian treasures(warna)..

Is it possible for high school students (junior to be exact) to volunteer for the Student Conservation Association. And if so what kind of work is it and is the work in a variety of locations?
