Permaculture is a word originally coined by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the mid 1970's to describe an "integrated, evolving system of perennial or self-perpetuating plant and animal species useful to man" 'Consciously designed landscapes which mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature, while yielding an abundance of food, fibre and energy for provision of local needs. People, their buildings and the ways in which they organize themselves are central to permaculture. Thus the permaculture vision of permanent or sustainable agriculture has evolved to one of permanent or sustainable culture.

I'm poor. I always have been. For now I have enough $ for internet. I work hard as a custodian for a public school. I don't know how I could be part of this culture, but I would like to be. I don't own a home. Could someone please explain how I could get info. on how I could get started with this.

Why would anyone be offened by these folks? I don't get the neggative attitudes towards them. There growing things and saying that this is something that many people have lost and it's important to not forget that with hard work we can take care of ourselves. If you don't like this go back to sleep and go back to your nightmare.

Not all permaculturists are hippies. I'm more of a primitive survivalist-type, and I practice permaculture because natural systems are long-term, while stockpiles of guns, ammo, and canned goods are short-term. You might need those stockpiles to get yourself and your people through the impending crisis, but in the long run, you'll need a productive land base. In spite of my youtube "handle", too much of that hippie shit makes me cringe, too. But don't let it scare you away from permaculture.

I'm not a strip mall spawn. I don't "post" my idiotic thoughts. I "post" my ideas or thoughts that may help or inspire. I REPLIED to your ignorant post. I don't think or feel that I'm "above" others. I just want everyone to have a fair and equitable life. Apparently by your projections you've shown your true motives. PS, it has nothing to do with being "PC"...It's about sustainable/renewable, and not wasteful.
