Divine!!!With Maria Callas it's absolutely necessary to understand what's she's saying while singing,maybe more than with any other belcanto singer,due to her enormous enterpreting capacity.This is true for everything she sings.

Vissi d'arte poorly sung.Maria Callas was unable to sing Tosca, she was a soprano coloratura (with dreadful high notes)

This is not her best Tosca. But it is fascinating to watch her so closely throughout the song. It is almost uncomfortable.Anyone know when this performance was? It has to be 1964 or later.

This is not Callas at her best. But you seldom see anyone so true in carachter.I have seen prima donnas singing this piece with blank faces and expressionless movements.This is the cry of a desperate human being (Tosca).It does not have to be beautiful. It has to be passionate and haunting. Callas did that very well.
