I was 19 at that time and saw that performance, it was my first Rush concert.This was the last performance of the European tour in 1979.Alex Lefeson hurt his finger because he had a very wild night with his wife,his finger came between the mattress and the bed.Info came from: Tjerk Lammers, he was there press manager from WEA record company at that time.

in other words if i Had to make a decision and 2 guys had to be replaced , id keep Alex and replace Geddy and NeilNow dont misunderstand, OBVIOUSLY i wouldnt ever want to replace any of them , but im simply sayin if i had to make that decision and 2 had to go, id definitely Keep Alex no question about ittake songs like BYTOR, XANADU, LA VILLA, JACOBS LADDER, SPIRIT OF RADIO, WORKIN MAN, etc. Alex is clearly the driving force behind the tone, feeling and tenor of these songs 100%

truth is theres not many of us, 75 % of the RUSH fans i know of admire Geddy and Neil much more than Alex.the me Alex is the heartbeat of RUSH, the 'signature sound' its not geddy or Neil , although obviously they are fabulous.If you take Alex away and say he never was part of this band and your replaced him , sure id still think the band was very talented and great, but i would NOWHERE near be as big a fan.Alex to me is the CORE of the rush experience and sets the tone for rest

I listen to rush because of everybodys great work in the band (mostly alex but still everybody in the band is great)

2connection1 i never thought i'd find another person who felt the same way as i did about Lifeson...everyone always talks about geddy and neil but i listen to rush cuz alex is amazing
