An excerpt from Plato's Republic, the 'Allegory of the Cave' is a classic commentary on the human condition. It is a story of open-mindedness and the power of possibility. We have adapted and brought it to life by shooting thousands of high-resolution photographs of John Grigsby's wonderful clay animation. This is nicely done, but it's not really Plato's allegory at all. I think the most important thing you neglected/misunderstood is that the others in the cave can *physically* understand the released prisoner when he tries to tell them of the real world, but they just don't believe him. Why didn't you just do it the real way (i.e. have actual puppets casting hte shadows, like Plato says, and why leave out the details of the son ("The Good")?)

You forgot the part wherethe fire created the life on the walland the vision in which the realitieswould eventually fit.You forgot the part wherethe leaving created compassion to return. You forgot the partwhere the passers bywere passers bythough they were yet warmed by the fire.

Nor does it make the world outside of the cave any More real.

well done!! But that isnt entirely how the allegory was constructed in The Republic. I wish you would have did the orginal/extended version with your artistic abilities.

STOP working FOR those who chain us; start working AGAINST them. You can never be them by enjoying the chained state, however much you think you will. We dont HAVE to be either the chained or the chainer...There is a whole nother world of real freedom out there, beyond the cave-wall...there is no wisdom in being stupid; no life in not living. PEOPLE do not need to be governed. SLAVES do!Release yourself. REVOLT and make a new world. Anyway, nice vid. Thumbs up and five stars for that one.
