George Steel, the new Director of The Dallas Opera composed a Mass based on this Tallis theme some years ago. It is a deeply spiritual work and never failed to move me in the times that I heard it.

Very nice performance, although a few mistakes here and there (but then again, I'm a musician, and I've played this piece, and we're all humans who make mistakes, and I'm just being picky :D besides, few others would notice). Also, I personally believe this song works better with a larger orchestra because of the large number of parts.Nice job, especially on the solo parts!

"Why fum'th in fight the Gentiles spite, in fury raging stout? Why tak'th in hand the people fond, vain things to bring about? The Kings arise, the Lords devise, in counsels met thereto, against the Lord with false accord, against His Christ they go."

Truly "musical stained glass windows" I have a half dozen recordings of this piece and my favorite is still the Boult Vinyl Westminster recording with the Philharmonic Promenade Orchestra. He captures the mystery and timelesness of the piece better for me than any other.Someone once said that listening to this you aren't sure if you are hearing something very new or something very very old.

Great job, Chris! Great to see you conducting!

the exact same thing happened to me. I've purchased other CDs with this song on them, but the one on my Planets disc is the one that kills me every time.

yes, the Eugene Ormandy version is excellent. This video, however, is very well conducted as well. I'm impressed.
