first band i ever saw at the glasgow apollo. when i was young my mums pal used to babysit for us and take us through to this band flat on a saturday, she was a groupie. The band was salvation army, they supported the sweet at the apollo one night and we got balcony seats, was only a kid, met brian ferry backstage, the flat we used to go to was midge ures, just before slick, what an introduction to music, i love that story, and it's all true

I've seen all the so called glam metal bands of the 80's and none of them were glam like the Sweet. Cinderella came the closest but yet they were a long ways off. Had the Sweet been marketed correctly and had they gotten on a major tour along side a top rock act of the 70's I think they could have been a super group. Too bad they never got the respect they deserved.

The hair metal bands called themselves glam but they just didn´t get it. THIS was glam. Awesome. Classic.
