way to bring up irrelavent shit. they are not compeating for peak power. but power over a LONG TIME. can your buddies viper run that 1800hp range for 100 days straighT like a generator is designed to do? see the point.

A heavily modified Viper V10 will make 2.2k hp at ~7800 rpm. There's a guy in my town with one in the 16-1800 range.

air preheat is also used in some of the Perkins diesels for industrial use

Thats how a diesel engine works. It compresses air at a high ratio heating it up and injects fuel at close to TDC and it gets ignited forcing the cylinder down or in this case back.
